Bora Bora is an island of exquisite beauty and mystery. Nestled in the Society Islands of French Polynesia its lush forest, pristine coastline and jagged atolls surrounding it will take your breath away. No wonder it is among the top destinations for Honeymooners from around the world. Which is precisely what Robert and his wife were on when he captured this image from an Outrigger in the bay surrounded by Atolls. This image went on to win Grand Prize in Islands Magazine’s annual photo contest.
The California Coast is a recurring theme for Robert’s Photography. Living in Southern California for the majority of his life, opportunities to document life along the beaches and ocean are a driving force in his quest to create new and exciting imagery. Stand Up Paddle Boarding has become one of the most popular sports in Southern California and around the world.
Active Lifestyle and fitness companies are among Robert’s largest group of clientele. Specializing in fitness and health for last 27 years, Robert has shot for health clubs, gyms, spa’s and other leisure and recreational clients in many parts of the world. This series of images was created for The Bay Clubs at five of their Los Angeles locations. The goal was to not only highlight the fitness and gym facilities but the beautiful spa and relaxation facilities as well as restaurants that the Bay Club has to offer in many of the locations
A large part of Robert’s work includes creative portraiture shot on location. This particular shot was taken just a few feet from the US/Mexico border between Imperial Beach, CA and Tijuana, MX. Shooting South you can see the unencombered view of the Bull Fighting Stadium and the beaches of Tijuana. This image was taken about six years ago and there was only a US border guard and a couple of Mexican guards. No doubt there is now a large fence and many more men and women with automatic weapons blocking this once beautiful view.
Sunsets are always so much fun to shoot. Standing on the cliffs above Terramar Surf Beach in Carlsbad, CA. Robert photographed this surfer, all alone coming in from his last ride of the day. The vast empty sea and sun in the background combined with the solitude of this lonely surfer make this image so iconic of the California lifestyle. This image and many others are available as a limited edition fine are print in our California Coastal Series at www.robertrandall.com.
