Yesterday was World Refugee Day and I thought it would be a great opportunity to get some shots so I drove down to Denver and headed to the State Capital. It was a beautiful Colorado morning and by the time I got arrived there was already a substantial crowd. People where carrying signs and there were great speakers, music and entertainment. It turned to be a great day to shoot. I rarely get the opportunity to shoot any documentary work due to my busy schedule shooting commercial advertising projects but getting out there yesterday was a great reminder why I became a photographer in the first place. There is just something about going out, by yourself with one camera body, a couple of lenses and just finding great shots. No lights, no crew, no models, no art directors… just the simple joy of photography. Awesome!
